정치적 목표 없이 동원을 위한 동원, 열광을 위한 열광만을 할 수는 없는 노릇이다. 여기서 도탄에 빠진 국가를 구원하고 부흥시킨다는 '국가 갱생주의(palingenesis)'의 주장이 나왔다. 이런 식의 전투적 국가주의·민족주의는 보수와 급진 양자에게 다 같이 호소력을 발휘하였다. 국가의 총체적 추락을 경험한 대중은 국가 갱생이라는 목표를 메시아적 신앙으로 받아들였다. 국가를 갱생하려면 그것의 원류를 찾아야 하고, 그에 따라 민족의 역사·문화적 뿌리와 우월성을 강조하는 기획이 대대적으로 추진되었다. 아리안 민족의 독일, 로마제국 후예로서의 이탈리아를 만들기 위해 원초적 감정과 민족 탄생 신화를 조작하고 부풀렸다.

아 그런 일이 있었군요. 제가 잠깐 우리나라와 중국 정부에서 자국의 고대 역사를 어떻게 소개하고 있나 영문사이트로 봤는데 우리나라 정부에서는
Gojoseon (2333 BC -108 BC)
Gojoseon was the first kingdom established in the Korean peninsula and had its cultural basis in the Bronze Age. Established by Dan-gun Wang-gum, the first king, it became stronger as it began to be exposed to the iron culture around the fourth century B. C., and ruled a large area of land across Manchuria and the northern part of the Korean peninsula. However, it was destroyed by Han, the Chinese empire in 108 B.C.
그리고 중국정부의 경우
As the first slave dynasty in Chinese history, the Xia(하) Dynasty (21st-16th century BC) began with the reign of Qi(계), the son of the Great Yu(우), and ended with the fall of Jie(걸). With its capital located in Anyi (north of Xia County in mid-west Shanxi Province), the Xia was ruled by the descents of the Xiahou tribe(하후족?). Altogether, there were 16 kings in 13 generations.
